2015-2016 Direct Start Scholarships

Direct Starts are students who graduate high school between December 2014 and June 2015 and enroll at GCU for the 2015 fall semester, and 2015-2016 academic year.

All Direct Start applicants must:
  • Have completed and submitted a GCU Campus Admissions Application
  • Submit transcripts showing six semesters or more with cumulative, weighted or unweighted GPA, or submit SAT (math and verbal scores only) and/or ACT scores
  • Submit final transcripts by day 21 of the semester which includes a graduation date for final awards
  • Maintain the specified GPA, indicated in the Academic Scholarship Renewability/Adjustability section

Academic Scholarship Requirements

4.0 Unweighted GPA  
3.9+ GPA or 31 ACT or 1350 SAT Exceeds on 3 of 3 exams
3.7 - 3.89 GPA or 27 ACT or 1225 SAT Exceeds on 2 of 3 exams
3.5 - 3.69 GPA or 24 ACT or 1100 SAT  
3.3 - 3.49 GPA or 22 ACT or 1050 SAT  
3.0 - 3.29 GPA or 20 ACT or 1000 SAT  

The Chancellor award is the only scholarship program that requires an unweighted GPA. Only 200 Chancellor awards are given annually. Award is secured upon registration to GCU. Our other academic scholarships are based on weighted high school GPAs. If you don't have a weighted GPA, you can use your unweighted GPA for these scholarships as well.

Chancellor and President award recipients are automatically accepted into GCU’s Honors Institute. Provost award recipients can apply for admission to GCU’s Honors Institute. Click here for more information.

2015-2016 Indirect Start Scholarships
Indirect Starts are students who do not enroll at Grand Canyon University the semester following their high school graduation.

All Indirect Start applicants must:

  • Submit unofficial transcripts for all institutions attended since high school. If the student did not attend another college or university, the high school transcript must be provided
  • Upon completion of final terms at all institutions, provide the official transcripts to GCU. Official transcripts are due by day 21 of GCU's semester so the scholarship award amounts can be locked in
  • Once enrolled, maintain continuous full-time enrollment at GCU and adhere to the scholarship program requirements for renewal

Academic Scholarship Requirements

3.5+ GPA or 31 ACT or 1350 SAT
3.25 - 3.49 GPA or 27 ACT or 1225 SAT
3.0 - 3.24 GPA or 24 ACT or 1100 SAT
