Wilcox, principal at Echo Mountain Primary School in Phoenix, has worked with orphans in Mexico and Romania, and is involved in programs that meet the needs of less-fortunate children. She has been a principal for 14 years and previously taught grades 5-8 for 10 years. Thank you for taking a few moments to check back in with us. The Office of Alumni Relations exists to serve as a resource to support you and keep you connected with the university.
Our Expanding Campus
If you haven't been on campus recently, I'd like to invite you to come back for a visit. We've continued to expand our campus with the additions of new classroom buildings and suite-style residence halls as well as a newly renovated Student Union featuring a two-story library and one of the largest Starbucks in the country. Thunder Alley, the newest dining facility on campus, now features popular eateries like Chick-fil-a and Subway. In spring 2014, our 5,000-seat GCU Arena will be undergoing renovation to add an additional 2,000 seats!
For the 2013-14 academic year, our traditional campus in Phoenix welcomed its largest student body ever: approximately 8,200 students. We expect that to grow to 10,000 next year.
Our Growing University
We have also acquired a large piece of land out in Mesa where our East Valley campus is underway for enrollment in fall 2015. The campus will feature two new classroom and lab buildings, a large Student Union with multiple dining facilities, a Recreation Center with plenty of seating for Chapel and other events, an apartment-style residence hall, intramural and club sports and much more.
Our Online Population
Our online student enrollment has exceeded 50,000 students taking classes nationally and globally. Combined with our campus students, we are welcoming new alumni at a rate of over 10,000 each year!
Our Division I Athletics Teams
Our athletics teams continue to excel in our first season of Division I play in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). Former Phoenix Suns star Head Coach "Thunder" Dan Majerle is leading the 'Lopes men's basketball team to a great inaugural season. The alumni tailgate tradition before home basketball games continues to grow and gain momentum, and we invite you to come out and join us at an upcoming game.
Drop by the Alumni Center (Bldg. 1, room 101) next time you are on campus. We'd love to see you!
