What is the purpose of Alumni Career Preview Days?
The purpose of the Alumni Career Preview Days is for alumni to provide guidance to current main campus students about their chosen career path.   

What are the benefits of Alumni Career Preview Days?
Benefits of Alumni Career Preview Days include:

  • Insight into a field of study
  • Networking opportunities with GCU alum  

Should I sign up for Alumni Career Preview Days?
If you are a sophomore or a junior on the main campus and would like to shadow a GCU alum in their professional setting, then sign up for Alumni Career Preview Days today!  

What are the expectations for Alumni Career Preview Days?
Please dress appropriately and act professionally. You are expected to arrive on time.  

May I miss class to attend Career Preview Days?
No, your chosen Career Preview dates may not interfere with your class schedule.

Can I still participate in Alumni Career Preview days if I am not available during the timeframe?
If you are not available during the scheduled dates, we will attempt to accommodate you by matching you with an alum who is available during the same timeframe as you.

Will transportation be provided on my scheduled date?
No, you must provide your own transportation.

Will I be matched with an alum professional that has the same degree as the one I'm earning?
You will be matched with an alum who is currently working in a field that you have indicated an interest in on your application. We will do our best to match all students and alumni, but there may not be an exact fit to participate in the program at this time.

What questions can I ask my alum?
Here are some sample questions from GCU students to alumni:

  • What qualifications or skills do you look for when hiring someone for a similar position?
  • What are some changes I need to make to achieve my academic goals?
  • Is this career going to support the lifestyle I would like to have?
  • Is this career in line with my personal convictions?
  • How can I develop my spiritual growth in the workforce?
  • How can I develop healthy relationships in the workplace?

What is my role in Alumni Career Preview Days?
As a GCU alum, your goal is to serve as a mentor for the day and advise students about your chosen career path. You may be able to offer insights and suggestions that can help current GCU students pursue their purpose.

Can I still participate in Alumni Career Preview days if I am not available during the timeframe?
If you are not available during the scheduled dates. we will attempt to accommodate you by matching you with a student who is available during the same timeframe as you.

What are some suggested activities I can plan for the student(s)?

  • Lunch with key individuals within your company
  • Tour of your company and introductions to coworkers that you work with the most
  • Overview of a regular day at your work and the type of projects you have to complete on a regular basis
  • One-on-one sit down to go over the student's degree and their goals for what they eventually want to do in their career path  

Where can I advertise current job openings at my company?
Please visit our Career Services webpage to create a company profile and submit your positions to the online job board.
