Yes, the services provided by the CLA are free to any GCU student enrolled in classes.
How many times per day/week can I work with a tutor?
Based on availability, students may receive 30 minutes of free tutoring with a peer tutor a day, for as many days necessary.
What software is used for online students during the session with their tutor?
Online tutors use two software programs:
Scribblar- Used for math and sciences and includes a white board that can be shared visually and used with drawing tools.
Type with Me- Used for Writing. Allows students and tutors to share assignment text and make revisions as they move throughout the session.
What are the hours of operation for the CLA?
8am-7 pm (M-Th) and 8am-5pm (Fri), Arizona time.
Summer Hours-8am-5pm Monday-Friday
Do I need to book an appointment with a CLA tutor, or can I just call or walk in?
The best way to ensure a CLA tutor is available to answer your questions is to book an appointment. If you need immediate assistance, you can call the CLA and a tutor may be available at that time to answer questions, but there are no guarantees.

What do I do after I have booked for a session?
You will receive a confirmation email, as well as a reminder call 24 hours in advance reminding you of your confirmed appointment. If the session is face to face, come into the center and the tutor will be ready to work with you during your time. If the session is online, the tutor will call you at the scheduled time.
What is Thinking Storm?
ThinkingStorm is an external provider who specializes in online tutoring services for students in specific academic areas. GCU gives 10 tutoring hours of ThinkingStorm per academic year. To access the ThinkingStorm tutoring option, just click the ThinkingStorm icon on your ANGEL course homepage.

What are the qualifications of the tutors?
Most tutors have at least taken the course in which they’re tutoring in, have been referred by faculty, are majoring in the subject(s), or teach the course as adjunct faculty.
How are the tutors evaluated?
The tutors are required to attend bi-weekly trainings discussing proper tutor methodologies, effective communication and subject specific learning strategies. Tutors are monitored and evaluated by their peers as well as supervisors.
