Sandra White, RN, MSN-Ed, NHA, has been a Registered Nurse for over 15 years. She started her career in health care working as a Certified Nursing Assistant for several years while being a busy mom. Sandra advanced her career obtaining her licensure and working as an Emergency Medical Technician. This busy mom became an excellent role model to her children, as Sandra continued her education, completing her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from the University of Wisconsin -Eau Claire. Her career has allowed her the opportunity to specialize in geriatrics. While continuing her career as Director of Nursing, Sandra has obtained her Nursing Home Administrator's license from the University of Wisconsin -Madison. |
| In her desire to learn and her passion to teach others, Sandra went on to achieve her Masters of Science in Nursing - Nursing Education from Grand Canyon University. She continues to work as the Director of Nursing, while facilitating classroom nursing education. How has facilitating online courses at GCU helped you find your purpose? GCU has offered me the opportunity to give back and share the gifts I have been blessed with. What is one effective teaching strategy you use in your online classes? I truly love the interaction with my students. As a facilitator, I am passionate about being available to them. I am frequently, throughout the day and evening, checking into the classroom for questions or obstacles students may be having. My goal is to help the students be successful, gaining confidence and knowledge as they continue on their educational journey. What is one GCU online student success story you can share? I had a student who was having conflict in her personal life, causing her to be frequently absent from the classroom. I continued to call her, leaving voice messages and frequent emails with words of encouragement and reasons to turn her emotions and energy to her education. She became active in class, offering excellent discussions and generating further learning opportunities for other students. At the completion of class, she verbalized her appreciation and thanked me for believing in her. She told me that she will "pay it forward", making a difference in someone else's life. |
