Dr. Daniel Moosbrugger is currently serving as Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Truett-McConnell College in the beautiful mountains of northern Georgia and as adjunct faculty at Grand Canyon University. He is married to Bobbi and they have two adult children, Bryan and Lori. The only child the Moosbruggers have left at home is Hank, who is black and chrome and weighs about 1,000 pounds when full of gas. Hank is a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Daniel has a passion to see students succeed in more than a degree, but to find their own personal purpose and understand the true concept of leadership and biblical worldview. Daniel has a passion to see students succeed in more than a degree, but to find their own personal purpose and understand the true concept of leadership and biblical worldview. How has facilitating online courses at GCU helped you find your purpose? Teaching at GCU has been very rewarding. Investing in student's lives and watching them experience "aha!" moments brings joy of accomplishment and success. Challenging students to think critically about leadership, current issues, and mentoring others is essential in the academic arena. What is one effective teaching strategy you use in your online classes? In my classes I integrate the biblical foundations of leadership to help form and shape students' biblical worldview. This seems to be a missing component in leaders today! Once a student understands why followers are treated with kindness and respect it becomes part of the leader's DNA. I believe that moral decay and unethical behavior stem from lacking a biblical worldview. What is a GCU online student success story you can share? The life of a student can be very demanding. Many are struggling to pay bills, working full-time, trying to find time with the family, and still maintain their course work and good grades. Time after time, I have shared my life experiences with students over the phone to encourage and challenge them. In nearly all situations, by the time we finish the call I hear a sigh of relief and confidence in moving forward. My prayer is that I am a blessing and a resource where students can gain strength and assurance in knowing that there is only an audience of One-Jesus Christ! |
