What to Bring

Here is a list of items you'll want to bring to your dorm or apartment. Also included is a list of what NOT to bring. If you have any questions, please contact GCU's Student Life at 602.639.6240.

You can bring:

  • Standard, extra-long twin sheets
  • Towels
  • Computer
  • Alarm clock
  • 4.5 cubic foot refrigerator*
  • Microwave ( Not exceed 1,000 watts)
  • Toiletries
  • Laundry detergent
  • Iron
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Plunger
  • Toilet paper
  • Stereo
  • Television
  • Small fan
  • Small trash can
  • Pictures/posters (in good taste)
  • 3M tabs and/or adhesive clay (no screws, nails, tacks, etc.)
  • Cups, plates, bowls, flatware
  • Coffee maker without hot plate
  • Calendar
  • Shower curtain (apartments only)
  • Desk lamp (overhead lighting provided)

Please do not bring:

  • Fireworks (illegal on campus)
  • Firearms or weapons
  • Any open heating sources (candles, incense, toasters, etc.)
  • Bed risers or loft kits
  • Pets (excluding fish and small turtles)
  • Fish tank larger than 10 gallons
  • Alcohol or alcohol paraphernalia (GCU is a dry campus)
  • Illegal drugs or drug paraphernalia including hooka pipes
  • Halogen lamps
  • Knives or other dangerous items


*To avoid overloading electrical circuits, only 1 refrigerator and 1 microwave is permitted per room in each suite. 3 Total refrigerators and microwaves allowed (living room counts as a "room")
