Dr. Marjaneh Gilpatrick obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Louisiana State University, a Master's degree in Multicultural Education from San Diego State University, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Argosy University in Phoenix. The areas of study and research Dr. Gilpatrick is most involved in are adolescent literacy, early childhood education, and professional development for teachers. Currently, Marjaneh is the Executive Director of Educational Outreach in the College of Education at Grand Canyon University. Prior to becoming the Executive Director, she was the Assistant Dean and even before joining Grand Canyon University, Dr. Gilpatrick served in a number of capacities. These included Instructional Specialist/Literacy Coach, Reading Department Chair, AVID Elective Teacher, Reading Teacher and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Site Coordinator at Mesa Junior High School. Marjaneh has taught various education and English as second language courses at community colleges. Furthermore, she was a self-contained third and fourth grade teacher in an A+/Blue Ribbon school here in the valley.
What Dr. Gilpatrick enjoys most about teaching is that she can guide and encourage the learners to grasp a new concept and/or find their own passion for transforming their world into a better one. The strategies Dr. Gilpatrick utilizes to help her learners succeed are asking higher order probing questions and modeling effective communication and leadership skills. Marjaneh has lived in three countries: Iran, Trinidad and the United States. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends while remaining active in the faith community.
