Honor Cords

Honor Cords

Honor cords recognize an undergraduate student's scholastic achievement and come in gold and silver. Honor candidates will receive either a gold or silver cord based on their institutional qualifications. Honor cords must be picked up by students who have been determined as honor candidates prior to the commencement ceremony.

What do honor cords signify?

Gold honor cords are worn by undergraduate students who achieve a 3.4 GPA and have earned 60 GCU credits by March 2012.

Silver honor cords are worn by undergraduate students who achieve a 3.5 GPA and have earned less than 60 GCU credits by March 2012. Silver cords are for walking purposes only and are not noted on the student record.

How do I find out if I qualify for an honor cord?

The final decision about honors status is not made until all grades have been posted. To find out if you will receive an honor cord, contact your Academic Counselor.

Where are honor cords picked up?

Honor cords are picked up at the honor cord table, which is located near the student check-in and line-up area.
