Housing Application Policy
Use GCU's online housing application portal StarRez to reserve your housing, select a roommate and choose a meal plan. Reserving your room is easy with our step-by-step registration guide. A one-time housing application fee of $250 is required of all resident students. This fee is non-refundable after May 1.
Students under the age of 18 need to fill out the Underage Housing Form. This form must be signed with a legal guardian and then returned to the Office of Residence Life (email: firstname.lastname@example.org)
Check Out Policy
All students living on campus must check out of the residence halls by a specified move-out time prior to summer break. Contact your Resident Assistant (RA) at least 24 hours in advance to sign up for a room review and check-out time. If you need an extension, contact your Resident Director (RD).
Please note: If you are not ready to be checked out at your scheduled time slot or you fail to check out or properly clean your suite before leaving school, you will be subject to an improper check-out fine of $150.
Housing Cancellation/Reimbursement Policy
To withdraw from university housing, complete the online Withdrawal From Housing Form below. Make sure to schedule a check-out appointment with your RA 24 hours in advance prior to moving out. Failure to do so will result in an improper check-out fine of $150 and possible cleaning fees. Please be aware that you will be held responsible for any remaining contractual financial obligations for the semester as follows:
Fall 2014 Semester
May 1: Last date to cancel Fall housing reservations and receive 100% refund of housing application fee deposit
July 1: Last date to cancel Fall housing reservations and receive 100% reimbursement of rent charges
Aug. 18: Last date to cancel Fall housing reservations and receive 50% reimbursement of rent charges
After Aug. 18: Any housing cancellations after this date DO NOT qualify for reimbursement of rent charges
** Roosevelt Point residents are charged by the academic year and will be reimbursed accordingly. All other living areas are charged by the semester.
Spring 2015 Semester
Nov. 1: Last date to cancel Spring housing reservations and receive 100% reimbursement of rent charges
Dec. 5: Last date to cancel Spring housing reservations and receive 50% reimbursement of rent charges
After Dec. 5: Any housing cancellations after this date DO NOT qualify for reimbursement of rent charges
** Roosevelt Point residents are charged by the academic year and will be reimbursed accordingly. All other living areas are charged by the semester
- All residence halls
- North Rim Apartments
- Papago Apartments
- Mesquite Apartments
Roosevelt Point will remain open. North Rim and Mesquite Apartment residents will be required to turn in their key prior to leaving.
There will be no exceptions to this policy, which cannot be appealed, nor any extensions granted. Provisions have been made for the following students to remain in campus housing during Christmas break:
- GCU Student Workers working for the university during the break as confirmed by their manager
- Athletes in season as confirmed by their coach
- Band/cheer members as confirmed by their director/coach
- International students as confirmed by the International Student's Coordinator
- Married students living in married housing
For those students who the above provisions may apply to, please see your respective hiring manager, coach, director or international coordinator to sign-up.
Preferred Roommate Requests
Residents who would like to share rooms with another student - before the start of the semester - can do so only within the same living area and room type. Please follow these steps to have your request considered:
- Reach out to your assigned roommate. Your roommate's contact information can be found on the status page of your housing application.
- Ask your assigned roommate if he/she is willing to swap rooms with your preferred roommate. Both you and your preferred roommate need to be assigned to the same living area and room type in order to qualify.
- Your assigned roommate and your preferred roommate will each need to send a confirmation email to email@example.com before July 1.
- Once firstname.lastname@example.org receives these confirmations we will proceed with this process.
Preferred roommate requests will not be accepted after July 1. Room switches after the start of the semester are not permitted. Please speak with a Residence Life staff member if you have concerns regarding your rooming situation.
Housing Accommodations Policy
Special housing accommodations are available for those who would like to request it based on a major medical issue. The student must still apply for housing as well as work with the Student Disabilities Office to secure special housing accommodations. Read more on the housing accommodations policy page.
*Students with extenuating circumstances as determined by Residence Life may complete an appeal form requesting a housing refund. If an appeal is accepted, the refund may be pro-rated at monthly intervals.
