Our local outreach ministry, Area 91, represents the community in which our university lives. We are committed to serving our neighbors and making an impact for the Kingdom of God.
Area 91 seeks to mobilize our campus body to develop servant leadership and transform our community through justice. From these efforts, we seek to gain a deeper connection with Jesus.
If you love kids, then you should check out this ministry. Every Saturday GCU students pick up children from the surrounding neighborhood and play games, make crafts and share bible stories at Little Canyon Park. We meet every Saturday (during the academic year) 9 a.m. in Thunder Alley.
Thousands of refugees are resettling in Phoenix every year. Many of these refugees come having no understanding of our culture and the English language. With love and compassion we befriend them, teach them about the culture and encourage them as they learn the language.
Area 91 partners with a local school to offer students one-on-one tutoring and mentoring.. Many of these students have great needs and this ministry is a great opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
In Matthew 25 Jesus encourages His people to feed the hungry, befriend the homeless and provide clothing for those in need. We have partnered with Phoenix Rescue Mission to go into the community and do as Jesus has called us to do. There are various opportunities to serve in this ministry including serving food, running a chapel service, and working with children.
Serve The City
Serve the City is an opportunity for the GCU body to come together once a semester and make difference in our community. We mobilize 500 students and staff to bless others through painting projects, yard work and gardening, sorting clothes and much more. You do not want to miss out on this day.
