About GCU’s Global Outreach Efforts
Global Mission Trips
Global mission trips offer opportunities for GCU students to join a team and visit a variety of locations overseas. Currently, global mission trips are designed specifically for students on our main campus.
International Student Ministry
International Student Ministry is an opportunity for American students to build lasting friendships with students from other nations through field trips and monthly events on campus.
Global Training Project
The Global Training Project is yearlong training that equips students with the skills and knowledge to reach nations at home and abroad. Students will cultivate a passion for Jesus, his Kingdom and for making disciples, while preparing to launch into full-time ministry.
The Global Connect team supports students in their journey toward a full-time mission. Global Connect aids in organization partnership, prays for a student missions and helps connect students to global outreach opportunities.
Do you have mission experience? Do you want to be a full-time worker, domestic or abroad? Do you have a heart for missions, but don't know how to get connected? The Global Connect team would love to meet with you and hear your story!
The Refugee Ministry serves hundreds of refugee families who have resettled in Phoenix through a variety of services:
- Children's Ministry: Similar to Canyon Kids, this ministry is geared specifically toward refugee children. Volunteers teach Bible stories, play games, participate in crafts and partner with the community to help instill values.
- Tutoring: With hundreds of students living in the area, tutoring is a high need. Volunteers also have the opportunity to mentor and form spiritual relationships with kids and families.
- English Encouragers: Volunteers work with adults as they learn to speak English more proficiently and strive to complete their American citizenship course. Students are expected to attend citizenship courses with their partner to help him or her better understand materials.
Global Tour is a mini six-week exposure course held on campus designed to help students learn more about the world and why missions are important. This course discusses God's heart for the nations, the current state of the world and what being a part of God's call to nations truly looks like. Participants in the tour will not only build a basis of knowledge and understanding about world missions, but they will also build relationships with likeminded people. Students who are interested in participating in a mission trip or who are considering long-term missions would greatly benefit from this course.
GO Nights ministry is a community of students who have a passion for the nations. These students want to continue to learn about God's heart for the nations. This ministry provides engaging events and campaigns for GCU students that will in turn build relationships between the students and campus ministry opportunities. GO Nights seeks to bridge the gap between the student population and the spiritual life office, thus connecting students to their called field of serving.
The Communications team supports all outreach ministries in promotional and marketing purposes to spread the word about ministry opportunities available through local and global outreach. This team requires individuals with experience and skill particularly in the areas of design and video production.
The prayer team promotes a lifestyle of prayer. Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to engage in daily conversation with God about their lives, our community and the world. Ministries under the prayer team include Encounter, Unity, prayer partners, 24/7 prayer week, prayer chapel and more.
