Students who live off campus enjoy many of the features and benefits of those who live in student housing. Our vibrant commuter student community can take advantage of any number of services and activities on campus.

Commuter students at GCU can still enjoy a variety of our campus amenities, including:

  • Our 50,000-square-foot Student Recreation Center, complete with a full suite of fitness equipment and a variety of fitness classes suited for a range of skill and fitness levels.
  • A 6-lane bowling alley and lounge area on the lower level of Thunder Alley.
  • Two resort-style swimming pools.
  • A variety of clubs and student organizations.
  • A wide range of intramural sports, including flag football and sand volleyball.
  • An array of student-only events ranging from a relaxing Movie on the Lawn to heart-pounding Division I athletic competitions.

Grand Canyon University is also pleased to offer a lounge reserved for our off-campus students to relax between classes. Amenities include:

  • Free lockers (first-come, first-served; sign up in Student Engagement)
  • Refrigerator
  • Wi-Fi
  • TV
  • Free commuter lunches, brunches and give-a-ways (check semester calendar)


Commuter Life Leaders

Life Leaders exist to intentionally provide Christian leadership that is focused on building relationships with both Christian and non-Christian students throughout the ground campus. Life Leaders hold weekly Bible studies, meet with students individually as needs arise and intentionally connect with students in hopes that the Lord will use them to make an impact in His Kingdom as He sees fit.

Are you interested in connecting with fellow students? The Office of Spiritual Life offers Life Groups for commuters. Life Groups are:

  • Small group Bible studies
  • Led by Life Leaders
  • Held on a weekly basis
  • Held at various times and locations throughout campus
