Getting Around Phoenix

As one of the largest cities in the United States, Phoenix offers a wide range of transportation options for its visitors and residents.


METRO Light Rail:
Just steps from the front door of GCU, the Valley METRO Light Rail serves the central Phoenix and Tempe corridors. Tickets for a single ride or a multi-day pass can be purchased online or at any train station

Valley Metro BUS:
The Valley Metro BUS system is one of the largest in North America with over 55 million riders each year. A fleet of over 1,200 buses connect people to locations throughout the greater Phoenix area as well as the surrounding cities including Tempe, Scottsdale and Mesa. Single ride and multi-day passes can be purchased at various locations or online.

Freeway System
Arizona has an extensive freeway system that makes it feel like everything is at your fingertips. I-17 connects Phoenix with northern communities including Prescott, Sedona and Flagstaff. The 1-10 is a major east - west route that connects Phoenix to Tucson in about an hour, or to the Greater Los Angeles Area in about 5 hours. The Loop 101 and 202 connect drivers to surrounding areas including Tempe, Mesa, Glendale, Arrowhead, Cave Creek, and Scottsdale.
