COB Fall 2011 Honors Symposium

All Students, Staff, Faculty and Alumni of Grand Canyon University are invited to submit a paper addressing "Service."  Submissions will be considered for recognition and presentation at an Honors Symposium in December 2011.

The deadline for submissions is October 17, 2011. Papers are subject to peer review and will be considered for publication in a new academic journal. Notification to those selected for formal presentation at the symposium will be made by November 1, 2011. The symposium will be held at the Ken Blanchard College of Business the week of December 5th. (The exact date will be selected and announced after the start of the fall 2011 semester).


  • Submissions: should be made electronically to Dr. R. Kevin McClean, Professor of Marketing and Moderator, Eta Chi Chapter, Delta Mu Delta. (We request that you alert Dr. McClean of your intention to submit via email by September 15th).
  • Length: the paper should be no more than 20-pages (excluding cover, index, exhibits, references, and attachments).
  • Format: APA formatting.

Delta Mu Delta is a national honor society dedicated to the recognition of students who have distinguished themselves academically and others who have experienced measurable success in their professions.  This symposium is intended to provide a forum for all interested students, staff, faculty and alumni to express their positions regarding the theme of the symposium, Service. The topic can be approached from a particular business discipline, e.g., from a marketing, accounting, management, economics, or finance perspective, or can be from a social science, science, philosophical, or religious perspective. By way of example, the following are possible presentation topics:

  • Service as a business imperative
  • Service as a Christian value
  • Service and vocation
  • Service quality
  • Service essentials in nursing
  • Theater as a service
  • Service measurement
  • Service and society
  • Psychology and service
  • The service of education
  • Science as service
