Grand Canyon University recommends all military students have a pre-evaluation of previous college and military experience to assist in determining if GCU is the right fit for your education goals. Military students have earned potential college credits through military training and experience that has been evaluated and credit recommendations provided by the American Council on Education (ACE). A Military Enrollment Counselor will assist you in obtaining unofficial copies of college transcripts from all previous schools / universities attended and military service transcripts.

Grand Canyon University students may transfers in 30 Military Credits plus 30 Alternative Transfer Credits for a total of 60 potential transfers from military training. All credits evaluated must meet the requirements of the degree and satisfy specific course requirements in order to be transferred in towards the degree program.

Two primary military Alternative Transfer Credit Options include CLEP and Prometric DSST Exams (Formerly DANTES). Certain restrictions apply to these programs. Credit will only be given when it does not duplicate credit previously earned and is not for a course more elementary than one for which the student has earned college credit.
College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Developed by College Board.Org CLEP has been the most widely trusted credit-by-examination program for over 40 years, accepted by 2,900 colleges and universities and administered in more than 1,700 test centers. This rigorous program allows students of a wide range of ages and backgrounds to demonstrate their mastery of college-level material in introductory subjects and earn college credit. Students can earn credit for what they already know by getting qualifying scores on any of the 33 examinations.

These examinations are administered on over 500 military installations by thePrometric DSST Exams Test Control Officer (TCO), who is normally the Education Services Officer or Navy College Education Specialist for the military installation, or by base-sponsored National Test Centers. About 150,000 Prometric DSST Exams-sponsored examinations are administered each year to military personnel.
