Biography

Dr. Anne McNamara earned her Ph.D. in Nursing at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She received her MSN from Arizona State University and BSN from Worcester State College. Dr. McNamara currently serves as the Dean for the College of Nursing at Grand Canyon University. She is also a professor here on campus. Dr. McNamara brings a wealth of professional nursing experience to GCU, as she has served in positions such as Faculty Chair, Project Director, and Director of Nursing Research at various medical centers and educational institutes throughout the valley. Additionally, Dr. McNamara has assumed several leadership positions for the American Nurses Credentialing Center Board, American Nurses Association, Arizona Nurses Association, Scottsdale Healthcare Board of Trustee, and John C. Lincoln Health Network.

Dr. McNamara stresses the importance of meeting each student in their space and fully understanding their learning style. A vital component of teaching Nurses is ensuring that students understand the "intimate" space that they will be entering and how to show respect for all people. Dean McNamara is active in her church and has traveled to Argentina and Mexico on medical mission trips.
