Biography

Dr. Rose French has a very exciting and diverse career as a professional musician and educator. She performs with groups in the Southwest including the Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera, Tucson Symphony, Flagstaff Symphony, Symphony of the West Valley, Orquestra Sinfonica de Monterrey, Orquestra de Baja California and has toured China twice as principal horn of the American Festival Orchestra.

An active chamber musician, Dr. French is the Director of the Mill Ave Chamber Players, Managing Director of the Pangean Orchestra and member of the Phoenix Chamber Brass. French has been a contributing artist at the International Women's Brass Conference in Kalamazoo, Michigan and the International Horn Symposiums in Brisbane, Australia, and Cape Town, South Africa, where she also won the Dorothy Frizelle International Horn Excerpt Competition.

French completed her Doctorate of Musical Arts and Master of Music at Arizona State University and holds degrees in Music Education, Music Technology and Performance from Duquesne University. She is a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University and Adjunct Faculty at Phoenix College, Paradise Valley Community College, and Grand Canyon University. Rose serves as Exhibitors and Advertising Coordinator for the International Horn Society, maintains a private studio and teaches at Rosie's House: A Music Academy for Children, a non-profit music academy that provides free instruction and instruments to under-served youth.

In 2012 Dr. French hosted the Southwest Horn Conference, where she performed with Swiss horn player Bruno Schneider, taught and performed at the Interlochen Arts Academy 2012 Horn Institute and Northern Arizona University Curry Music Camp, and published Rangesongs for Horn, collections of etudes focused on high and low range development for horn, published by Mountain Peak Music.
