Dr. Brian Sillanpaa was the first person in his family tree to graduate from college. He received his M.D. from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, an M.B.A. from Arizona State University and a B.A. from Chapman University. For the last 8 years, he has been researching Colorectal Cancer and teaching part-time but is now a full-time Assistant Professor at Grand Canyon University. Additionally, Brian has had a plethora of diverse professional experience as an Italian Chef, member of the U.S. Air Force, an EMT, Organic Chemist, a truck dispatcher, and an Operations Manager for a Fortune 100 company. It is fair to say that he has been around a little. Dr. Sillanpaa finds it satisfying to be able to explain difficult concepts to students and see the light go on when they finally "get it". For Brian, teaching is therapy and an opportunity to learn right along with the students. Brian has also traveled to over 10 countries and his family has moved about 16 times.
