Lois Coomer got her start in Nursing by earning her ADN from Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado. She received her BSN from the University of Southern Colorado and then her MSN from University of Phoenix. Lois's professional background in nursing started as a staff nurse in a private office of eight family practice physicians. This was followed by working for a major hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada as the evening/night house supervisor. Lois then joined the Air Force and spent 10 years in the military and was fortunate to be stationed in the Philippines and Alaska. Following the military, Lois moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where she started working at the Veterans Medical Hospital as a staff nurse on the Nursing Home Unit and Primary Care Clinic. Currently, she is a full-time professor with Grand Canyon University at the Albuquerque, New Mexico campus.
Lois's favorite subject is Gerontology and loves to watch students interact with the elderly. Lois volunteers in her spare time at St. Vincent de Paul and several of the Nursing Homes in Albuquerque. She loves to read mystery books, watch action movies, football, and cook.
