Dr. Priscilla Steffen earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) at the University of Arizona. Dr. Steffen's research examined the implementation of an American Thoracic Society clinical practice guideline in the setting of a pulmonary function lab. She completed her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Nursing with completion of requirements for Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and board certification. Additionally, Priscilla has completed requirements for Acute Care Nurse Practitioner via a post-master's degree certificate at St. Louis University School of Nursing and is board certified in that focus.
Dr. Steffen's practice setting as an advanced practice nurse has been related to populations with pulmonary problems and she worked as a board certified Registered Respiratory Therapist prior to becoming a nurse. Following completion of her FNP certification, Dr. Steffen spent years in the field working for Houston Allergy and Asthma Associates and Arizona Pulmonary Specialists as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. Broadening her experience, Priscilla joined GCU in July 2010 as Director of the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program. Dr. Steffen enjoys working with students with a true thirst for knowledge and an interest in personal growth and achievement. Her personal interests include camping, observing nature and natural habitats, as well as sewing.
