Biography

Margaret Koontz graduated from the University of Redlands, Redlands, CA with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Drama. She taught elementary school for four years in Los Angeles while her husband finished his law degree and then elementary music for several more years in her hometown of Bakersfield, CA. Ten years later she went back to school to earn a M.Div. in Church and Family Ministries. She has served as Director of Children's Ministries in both large and small church settings. She was ordained as a Minister of Word and Sacrament PC (USA) in 2003. She pastored a Chinese congregation, worked with children and youth in inner city settings, and served churches as pastor in northwest New York State and eastern New Mexico. Coming to GCU has given her the opportunity to combine two great loves: working with young people and being in ministry. Her purpose can be found in Psalm 71:17-18 where the psalmist asks God to be allowed to declare all that God has done to the next generation.
