Project Analyst

One of the many job possibilities for someone with an MBA in project management is to pursue a career as a project analyst. This role is responsible for analyzing the different requirements of a project and working alongside the team to complete it. Working alongside the project manager as well, you would be helping to plan out and manage various projects. As a project analyst, it’s important to make sure that each project is completed within a specific timeframe, as well as stay within budget and maintain the correct schedule.

Project Manager

A project manager tends to be the leader of a company project. A Master of Business Administration with an Emphasis in Project Management teaches you skills that you can apply directly to your career. Project managers oversee all areas within a project such as planning, execution, managing of workers, obtaining resources and knowing the scope of the project. This type of manager can be hired as a full-time employee of a company or as a freelance manager, depending on the company and its needs. 

Executive or Executive Officer

An executive, also known as an executive officer, usually holds a high position in a company. Executives are tasked to oversee the short- and long-term goals of the company. They are also responsible for implementing the various strategies and policies that will help reach these goals. Executives strive to not only achieve the goals of the company but to also grow the company’s profits and size. For example, as an IT project manager you could direct a range of technology related improvements in your company.

Director of Operations

The director of operations within a company ensures that the company is operating effectively and efficiently. They set parameters in place and observe the quality of the work that is done, with the intention of finding areas to improve. Quality control is crucial to creating a good product making this position quite valuable.

Largely, the director of operations reviews and evaluates. They tend to oversee the work of almost all levels of employees, ranging from entry-level employees to upper-level management.

General Manager

A general manager directs its staff and guides them to reach the goals that the company has set out to achieve. Managers are motivators, delegators and encouragers. They distribute work amongst the employees and train them on how to carry out each task. The manager of a company is also responsible for hiring personnel for the different positions within the company and creating a team that works well and effectively together.

While you may not have a degree in another given topic, it can benefit you to know more about other departments. Taking classes and reading up on the latest industry trends can help you improve your understanding of the field. A better understanding of your field could even help you work better with others.

Also, working closely with your team and having a proven ability to learn can help strengthen your relationships with coworkers. Since project management deals with leading a team, having good relationships with coworkers is quite valuable.

Communication skills are important as well to a healthy work environment. Having excellent writing skills helps you to make instructions that are understandable and precise for your workforce.
