Last year, the Canyon Worship 2017 album was a huge hit among students at Grand Canyon University. It was a follow-up to the first Canyon Worship 2016 album and now in its third year the 2018 album is here!

Released on September 10, the worship album can be found on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify, Shazam and in the Lope Shop on campus. While each installment equally shows the talent within the Center for Worship Arts at Grand Canyon University, this year it holds some different styles.

Check out Kristyn Marie, a song writer and singer on the album. She is majoring in worship arts this year and has a natural talent for what she does. Check out our interview below and get to know her!

What are you passionate about?

I am passionate about a lot of things. If I had to narrow it down I would probably say music and serving others.

When did you first know you wanted to pursue music as a career?

I knew I wanted to pursue a career in music when I went to a conference in middle school. It was led by Phil Wickham and there I got to see true, intimate worship. It’s history from there…

Who is your favorite Christian artist?

I would say, Phil Wickham.

What song did you write on the album?

I wrote the lyrics to “Make Yourself Known” and my friend wrote the melody.

How do you use music to speak the word of the Lord?

I believe that music can minister to different people based on the fact that everyone listens to music. I think the lyrics should be truthful and Biblically sound in order to speak to the listeners specifically. I hope that people who already have faith, listen and are reminded of God’s faithfulness and renew their strength and that non-Christians could be renewed through listening.
