Health and Wellness Center FAQs
How is the Health Clinic run?
The Health Clinic is basically run like any doctor’s office or clinic. We see patients for a wide variety of health problems and preventative care. Services include: diagnosing and treating illnesses; ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests such as EKGs, X-rays and blood work; prescribing medications; performing sports, school or work physicals; blood pressure screening; referrals to specialists; wellness promotion events; routine pap tests; and many more.
How much does it cost to be seen at the Health Clinic?
There is no charge for students with the student health insurance or for employees with the Cigna Access standard or premier plans. There is a $20.00 co-pay for those students or staff who have private insurance. Unfortunately we are unable to see staff who have the Cigna HSA plan, unless it is for preventative care.
What services does the Canyon Health and Wellness Clinic charge for?
Like most health care providers, the Health Clinic charges for office visits with a provider and for some other medical services we provide, including immunizations, EKGs, urinalysis, rapid strep testing, and some medical supplies and medical equipment.
Do I need an appointment to be seen at the Health Clinic?
Appointments are recommended (especially to see a nurse practitioner), but walk-ins are welcome and will be seen on a first come, first serve basis. A patient with a scheduled appointment will be seen prior to any walk-ins except in the event of an emergency. Call 602.639.6215 to make an appointment.
I don’t have insurance. Can I receive health care services at the Canyon Health and Wellness Clinic?
Absolutely. The Health and Wellness Clinic provides services to all GCU students, staff and faculty regardless of their health insurance status.
What forms of payment can I use to pay my bill?
You can pay your Health Clinic charges on the day of service by cash, check or credit card.
Can I get my blood drawn at the Health Clinic?
We do not draw blood at the Health and Wellness Clinic. However, if one of our providers orders blood work, you will be sent to Sonora Quest Laboratory to have the blood drawn.
