Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Kimberly LaPrade, earned her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from Capella University in 2008. She is proud Grand Canyon University alum and received both her M.Ed. in Secondary Education and B.A. in English/Sociology in 2000 and 1990, respectively. Dr. LaPrade's research efforts focus on topics related to student achievement, teacher leadership, de-tracking, urban education, and all aspects of teacher preparation, performance, and assessment.
Dr. LaPrade has over 8 years of experience in higher education as an Adjunct Professor, Program Director and Dean. She has taught undergraduate and graduate level education and leadership courses, and has worked extensively with masters' and doctoral level student researchers.
In addition, Dr. LaPrade serves on several committees and holds membership or volunteers in several professional and community associations, such as The Education Coalition, AEPA Standard Setting Committee, Steps of Faith, and the Alhambra College Preparatory High School Advisory Council. Dr. LaPrade also holds Secondary Teaching (7-12) and Principal (K-12) Certificates from the state of Arizona and was an educator in the K-12 classroom for 15 years.
