Message from the Dean

Premiering in the fall of 2010, the College of Fine Arts and Production represents Grand Canyon University's triumphant return to bringing the very best to Arts education. Housed within this unique college will be the Department of Theatre, the Department of Dance and the Department of Music with degrees in Theatre, Music: Voice and Piano emphases and Music Education. The Department of Production will feature degrees such as Digital Film and Graphic Design with additional offerings planned for 2010. This exciting College will be among the first of its kind in the nation to integrate all of these disciplines allowing students the best-rounded educational experience possible.

Grand Canyon University has a rich Fine Arts tradition and has helped prepare many of its graduates for productive and rewarding careers in the discipline of their choice. GCU Fine Arts graduates have performed on Broadway, Off-Broadway, at The Old Globe Theatre, Seattle Repertory Theatre, Arizona Theatre Company, Actor's Theatre, Phoenix Theatre, The Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Festival, Oregon Symphony and many other venues. Further, its graduates have been accepted to some of the finest graduate programs in the country including, Rutgers, University of Wisconsin, University of Texas, The Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Acting Training Program and the University of Louisville to name a few.

We are also extremely proud of our Fine Arts Education Programs and have helped to place many of our graduates in Music programs in schools both locally and throughout the southwest. We have graduates teaching music and directing choirs as well as teaching theatre and directing plays/musicals who are leaders in their fields. Additionally, we have many graduates who have found their calling as Music Ministers at local churches.

Whether you desire to perform, research, teach, create or expand your horizons as an emerging young artist, GCU's College of Fine Arts and Production is a safe, nurturing place where you can spread your wings and take flight. We have a friendly and enthusiastic faculty that is ready and willing to help you reach your goal of discovering your potential.

I can't wait to meet you and help you get started.
