Embracing Denominational Diversity and Evangelical Unity at our College

The College of Theology at GCU serves the evangelical community, "teaching what accords with sound doctrine" (Titus 2:1). It reaches a broad interdenominational community of like-minded Christian congregations and organizations, and reflects a celebration of the unity we have in Jesus Christ.

Aspiring ministers and Christian leaders are offered focused theological training that is grounded in biblical truth. It is our conviction that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, true, and authoritative Word of God. This conviction shapes all that we do and say and provides a firm foundation for theological studies and ministerial preparation.

As a leading theological institution, we are committed to the young men and women who stand firm on the trustworthy Word of God. We welcome all of like mind and faith and embrace the denominational diversity that characterizes our faculty and student body.

The college's theological training cultivates strong Christian character that fosters unity in Christ and love for one another. The college resonates with the central concerns and convictions of the larger evangelical community. It affirms the truth and authority of God's world, trusting that the message of Jesus Christ still changes lives. If you have been called to ministry then you will not find a better place to grow in knowledge and in wisdom as you develop character and skill for faithful ministry.

The Three Pillars

With the vision to change the world through the gospel of Jesus Christ, the college is built upon three pillars that serve as its foundational commitments.

Gospel Centered:

At the core of the College of Theology's mission is the powerful message that Jesus, the Son of God, gave his life to reconcile men and women to the Father. The college offers a deeply focused theological education that is grounded in the biblical truth that God loved the world so much that he sent his one and only Son who died to save all who believe in him (John 3:16).

Church Focused:

The gospel of Jesus Christ empowers those who follow Him to live life with one another in a community characterized by faith, hope, and love. The College of Theology trains leaders to faithfully live the message they teach and preach.

Missions Oriented:

The driving concern of the College of Theology is to engage the world outside the walls of the church as salt and light just as Jesus commanded. The life giving message of Christ is the most precious gift we can offer to those who we encounter in life and in ministry, so we share the gospel in our neighborhood, across the nation, and around the world, and train our students to do the same.

Commitment to our Christian University

The College of Theology embraces and supports GCU's commitment to educate students from a distinctively Christian perspective that is rooted in a rich evangelical heritage. We provide leadership and support to all of the colleges within the institution, as the university works diligently to integrate faith and learning across all of its academic disciplines.

Mission Statement

The College of Theology educates and equips students to effectively communicate the gospel, faithfully serve the church, and minister with integrity at home and abroad.
