Jimmy Brown, PhD, BCC, is the Assistant Program Chair, Dissertations in Grand Canyon University’s College of Doctoral Studies. He has more than 20 years of experience in higher education focusing on domains such as psychology, management (e.g., MBA programs) and research methods. In these roles he both teaches courses and supervises the research of doctoral candidates. He has earned awards from multiple universities for his service in these capacities, personally chaired more 46 completed doctoral studies.
Dr. Brown is a frequent speaker and author on topics such as strategic planning and change management. He has presented at major conferences such as the American Society for Training and Development, and the Academy of Management. His most recent books include The Power of Mandate: How Visionary Leaders Keep Their Organization Focused on What Matters Most and The 7 Assumptions That Drive Success & Happiness. He is regularly sought out for his insights on how to apply cutting-edge theory to solve real-world business challenges.
Dr. Brown is also a Board-Certified Coach (BCC) who has delivered more than 4000 coaching sessions with clients across several industries including marquee technology firms, bio-pharma, retail, manufacturing, and government. He maintains a diverse client base across North America, Europe, and South America; and has unique experience helping people from underrepresented backgrounds navigate corporate life. Dr. Brown previously held senior-level consulting positions at marquee firms such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Accenture, and Hewlett-Packard. In these roles, he has worked across several industries including healthcare (provider, payer, and bio-pharma), retail, high-tech, manufacturing, energy and Federal government (civilian and DoD).
Dr. Brown received his Master’s degree in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from the University of Tulsa, and his Ph.D. from Benedictine University’s award-winning Organizational Development program. In addition, he is a certified Professional of Human Resources (PHR) through the Society for Human Resources Management. He is an active member of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology, and the Society for Human Resources Management.
