Kelly Maguire, EdD is a dedicated and experienced educator with over 38 years of teaching experience spanning elementary, junior high, high school, and college levels. She is skilled at creating engaging lessons and a supportive classroom, helping students excel academically and develop a love for literature, research, and writing. She has a proven ability to teach advanced writing courses as well as dual enrollment programs to provide students with college-level learning opportunities.
Dr. Maguire is an Associate Adjunct Professor and Chair for the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University. Additionally, she facilitates online doctoral courses for the teaching and learning doctoral program with an emphasis on adult learners. Kelly also has experience teaching Academic Journal Writing for the Honors College. Many of her students have published their manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals. For the past ten years, she has taught various literature and writing courses for the English department in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Dr. Maguire is proud to have instructed over 600 pre-service teachers in their initial training coursework to become secondary education English teachers. She also teaches full-time as a junior high English teacher at St. Francis Xavier Elementary in Phoenix.
She earned her Doctorate in Teaching and Learning from Grand Canyon University, a Master's degree in English, and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Northern Arizona University. Her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education was earned at the University of Arizona.
Dr. Maguire's research interests include qualitative methodology, pre-service teachers, teacher preparation, microteaching, content knowledge, andragogy, pedagogy, and reflective practice.
