Biography

Dr. Nural-Guvener earned her PhD in 2006 from the University of Nevada, Reno, with expertise in developmental biology and neuroscience. Her research background includes postdoctoral work at Banner Sun Health Research Institute, where she studied biomarkers and potential therapies for Alzheimer’s disease and the effects of myocardial infarction on brain biochemistry. She also investigated epigenetic mechanisms involved in cardiac fibrosis and heart failure. 

Dr. Nural-Guvener currently teaches both lower- and upper-division biology courses at Grand Canyon University. She brings her research experience into the classroom by emphasizing scientific reasoning, conceptual understanding and applying biological principles to real problems.
