  2. Behavioral Health Skills - Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science program with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescence Disorders will be able to analyze key behavioral health skills, such as the DSM manual and ICD codes, emerging brain technology, clinical and documentation skills, along with ethics and specific laws and rules. In addition, graduates will discuss the role of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for clients, and analyze the scope of practice for behavioral health paraprofessionals and technicians.
    • Discuss the current DSM manual and ICD codes for behavioral health.
    • Examine the use of emerging brain technology for behavioral health.
    • Analyze the different clinical and documentation skills to be an effective member of an interdisciplinary team.
    • Discuss the role of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment when working with behavioral health clients.
    • Evaluate the Code of Ethics and specific state laws and rules for behavioral health.

Cultural Competency - Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science program with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescence Disorders will be able to discuss how culture, diversity, and social justice impact the behavioral health field. Additionally, graduates will define the role of religion and spirituality in providing behavioral health services, and examine the values and belief systems of behavioral health disorders among cultures.

  4. Behavioral Health Information Technology - Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science program with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescence Disorders will be able to evaluate the use of diverse technology for behavioral health, such as electronic medical and health records, record keeping, and other related software. In addition, graduates will analyze the importance of privacy, security, and confidentiality with patient records.
    • Differentiate between electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR).

  5. Professional Network - Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science program with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescence Disorders will be able to examine the importance of a professional network in the field of behavioral health, such as roles and expectations, internal and external multi-disciplinary teams, along with local and national service entities. Additionally, graduates will discuss the role of managed care and integrated health system.

  6. Childhood and Adolescence Disorders - Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science program with an Emphasis in Childhood and Adolescence Disorders will be able to identify the theories of childhood development and the DSM disorders related to children and adolescents. In addition, graduates will distinguish evidence-based treatment options, and discuss the Code of Ethics and legal rights when working with minors.
