Course Description

Course Description

Learners finalize selection of an issue in ministry that will become the basis of an evidence-based research project to be carried out prior to completion of the doctoral program. Learners leave this course with a project goal/topic, a literature review, a proposed methodology, and a clear description of how addressing the issue presented will improve ministry. A project proposal is written in preparation for the Institutional Review Board (IRB) review. Learners are required to plan and document their learning goals and activities using the "DMin Project Milestone Guide." This course contains a synchronous virtual component.

Learners submit a project for approval to the Institutional Review Board (IRB). Once IRB approval is obtained, the learner conducts the project. Data are appropriately gathered for future analysis to determine if the practice investigated in the project brought about improved outcomes. Learners are required to plan and document their learning goals and activities using the "DMin Project Milestone Guide." This course is offered in residency for nontraditional students. Prerequisite: DMN-950.

This course examines personal and external challenges common to ministry leadership and explores practices, skills, and internal dispositions that help ministry leaders navigate these challenges and develop resiliency. A resilient leader will be able to lead themselves and others through internal and external challenges in way that is sustainable for long-term health and maturity.

Course Description

Effective spiritual leaders not only lead but also prepare and enable others to lead through their work of discipleship, mentoring, and multiplication. This course examines biblical and theological foundations of discipleship, mentoring, and ministerial multiplication, while also exploring practices, skills, and internal dispositions that will help ministry leaders effectively develop future leaders. The course is designed around the relational triangle of spirituality – up, in, and out (i.e., relationship with God, relationship with the self, and relationships with others).

Data gathered during the project is analyzed and evaluated to determine the outcomes garnered by the project. A proposal for dissemination and mass implementation is created. Learners identify areas of future research and practice change for the continued improvement of ministry. Learners are required to plan and document their learning goals and activities using the "DMin Project Milestone Guide." This course contains a synchronous virtual component. Prerequisite: DMN-960.
