Foundational Principles of Psychology -
Graduates of the Master of Science in Psychology program with an Emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the theoretical perspectives and themes in psychology and develop a working knowledge of psychology’s content domains. They will also understand the numerous applications of psychology to a variety of settings.

• Describe key historical perspectives and theories in psychology.
• Differentiate among current perspectives and theories in psychology.
• Describe applications of psychology.

Social Relationships and Multicultural Perspectives Across the Lifespan -
Graduates of the Master of Science in Psychology program with an Emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology will be able to demonstrate an understanding of sociocultural factors and be able to integrate and apply these factors to personal, professional, and social contexts. An emphasis on comprehension of multicultural themes across the lifespan is also included. Students will analyze and apply these concepts at both national and global levels.

Research Methods -
Graduates of the Master of Science in Psychology program with an Emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology will be able to evaluate and select appropriate research methods, designs, and statistics, by analyzing the theoretical, ethical, and methodological components used in conducting research.

• Interpret psychological phenomena using scientific reasoning.
• Critically evaluate psychological research.
• Design and innovative research study.
• Apply ethical standards to evaluate psychological science and practice.

Professional Skills/Development -
Graduates of the Master of Science in Psychology program with an Emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology will be able to demonstrate the capacity to thrive in various psychological professions. An emphasis is placed on leadership proficiencies, including written and verbal communication, presentation ability, and team-building. Students will also construct a roadmap for a future career in psychology.

• Demonstrate effective writing for scientific purposes.
• Convey scientific knowledge to a general audience through a presentation.
• Plan and manage the necessary process for the completion of a research project.

Industrial and Organizational Psychology -
Graduates of the Master of Science in Psychology program with an Emphasis in Industrial and Organizational Psychology will learn techniques for increasing motivation and improving workplace performance; including human behaviors, conflict management strategies, and factors contributing to the advancement of an organization’s performance.

• Describe theoretical and practical issues for understanding human behavior in the organizational environment.
• Describe the purpose of job and task analysis.
• Discuss the nature of complex organizations.
• Measure individual skills and abilities with organizational needs.
• Apply communication skills to an organizational setting.
