- Identify, formulate, and solve complex computing problems by applying methods from calculus and linear algebra
- Support decision making processes by using probability and statistics
- Apply discrete mathematics concepts (combinatorics, graphs, probability, number theory) to the formulation of ideas and theory in computer science
Algorithms and Complexity -
- Design correct and efficient algorithms, and use formal methods for proving the correctness and analyzing the complexity of such algorithms
- Describe the architecture and characteristics of parallel and distributed systems that implement parallel algorithms
- Determine the computability of a problem and calculate its computational complexity of algorithms that solve it - if they exist
Computing Systems -
- Explain multicore and multiprocessor architectures (coherence, consistency, synchronization, interconnects, and OS support)
- Evaluate various computing systems design alternatives
- Specify, design, build, test, and deliver reliable software systems
Research and Applications -
- Formulate research questions in the context of computational problems
- Design experiments to test and prove hypotheses in the context of computational problems
- Analyze experiment or project development results in the context of computational problems
- Communicate research findings or project outcomes to a variety of audiences, including academic, the scientific community, and industry professionals
Artificial Intelligence -
- Automate repetitive learning and discovery through data
- Develop applications that adapt through progressive learning algorithms
- Analyze deep data to discover underlying trends
Professionalism, Ethics, and Sustainability -
- Determine whether or not a new data-driven business process is using customer data in an ethically sustainable way
- Demonstrate ethical judgment to comply with legislation, regulations, and standards by articulating the knowledge of contemporary issues
- Identify, formulate, and solve computing problems by communicating effectively with a range of audiences through professional oral and written skills
- Examine the application of the Christian worldview within the context of discipline and vocation
