    Graduates of the Post-Master of Science in Counseling: Childhood and Adolescence Disorders Certificate will be able to clearly discuss factors influencing development of children and adolescents, including the diagnosis and treatment of disorders associated with development.
    • Describe factors affecting childhood development.
    • Assess and diagnose DSM disorders relating to children and adolescents.
    • Formulate treatment options for child and adolescent disorders.
  • Marriage and Family Therapy -
    Graduates of the Post-Master of Science in Counseling: Childhood and Adolescence Disorders Certificate will be able to analyze the role of family systems and theoretical perspectives in treating couples and families.
    • Discuss how the perceptions of families have changed over time.
    • Apply counseling theories to the treatment of couples and families.
    • Determine how a person’s family of origin affects future relationships.
    • Analyze the influence of substance use and addictive disorders on couples and families.
  • Trauma -
    Graduates of the Post-Master of Science in Counseling: Childhood and Adolescence Disorders Certificate will be able to analyze the effects of trauma and interpersonal violence on victims, their families, and the community; and develop prevention and treatment strategies at micro and macro levels.
    • Analyze the physical and psychological effects of trauma.
    • Develop strategies for treating trauma victims.
    • Create an action plan for responding to a disaster within a community.
    • Analyze educational material for the prevention of interpersonal violence.
    • Analyze short- and long-term consequences of childhood trauma.
