Biography
Dr. John Carmichael is enthusiastic about teaching Biblical, theological, and ministerial concepts. He likes to engage students in connecting their doctrine to their discipleship. He challenges the students to integrate the incarnational ministry in the context of where God has placed them in this world.
He became a Christian at the age of 14 and received Spirit baptism at the age of 15. He graduated from Evangel Christian School and spent time at Youth With A Mission (YWAM). He was hired as the swimming pool manager and young adult pastor at Evangel World Prayer Center. He later married his wife, Erin. They moved to Richmond, KY, where they youth pastored at Victory Christian Center and attended Eastern Kentucky University. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration focused on accounting from EKU, he worked as a bi-vocational youth pastor for Evangel North Church. He worked with the church for five years as a youth minister and the accounting manager for Evangel World Prayer Center. They then left and pastored the First Assembly of God in Clinton, KY. Upon returning to Louisville, KY, he and his wife were installed as Pastors at North Church (formerly Evangel North Church), where they currently serve. In 2025, John joined Grand Canyon University as an online adjunct professor.
In 2016, he began working on a Master of Divinity from ORU and graduated in 2019. Immediately, he enrolled in the Doctor of Ministry program at ORU. He earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in 2024 after successfully defending his MRP titled, “Using the Jesus Model to Enhance Healing in the Local Church.” He is currently working a Ph.D. in Contextual Theology at ORU.
In addition to teaching, preaching, and ministry, he loves to exercise. He plays golf with his children. He is often studying the Koine Greek language and spends time translating. John and Erin have been married since 1995. They have 5 adult children and several grandchildren.
