Kevin Bock currently serves as Director of Athletic Bands in addition to instructor of Tuba and Euphonium at Grand Canyon University. He is an active freelance musician, educator, and clinician in the greater Phoenix area. Mr. Bock has taught masterclasses in New Jersey, Boston, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Arizona, California, and the Caribbean. Mr. Bock represented GCU at the annual Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Workshop performing in the college professor's recital in 2016. As an orchestral musician, he has performed with the Utah Symphony Orchestra, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado Music Festival, Arizona Musicfest, Arizona Opera, True Concord, Phoenix Chorale, Tucson Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, New World Symphony, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Boston Symphony Orchestra, and served as acting principal tuba with the Phoenix Symphony. He has been fortunate enough to work with some of the finest conductors in the world, including Frederick Fennell, John Rutter, Leonard Slatkin, Lorin Maazel, and Simon Rattle, among others. As a chamber musician, Mr. Bock has been a featured performer at the International Trumpet Guild's Conference in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the International Horn Society's Conference in Natal, Brazil and the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in Tucson, AZ. Mr. Bock is an avid music educator on and off local campuses. He is an active clinician all over Arizona and has been a frequent judge for AZMEA’s regional and all-state auditions as well as solo and ensemble. Kevin has also participated in many projects with the Phoenix Symphony. These programs include Mind Over Music, which sends musicians to Title I schools and uses music to reinforce other topics such as fractions, endangered species, identifying tone and themes in literature. With the Phoenix Symphony Brass Quintet, Mr. Bock has also performed man times at homeless shelters in Phoenix as well as classroom concerts. The outreach that has meant the most, though, has been the Music and Memory program, sending musicians to memory care and hospice facilities throughout the valley. These moving concerts are given to patients with various forms of dementia as a form of music therapy and were studied in conjunction with the ASU downtown medical campus. Kevin Bock is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy, Arizona State University, and the New England Conservatory. He lives in South Phoenix with his incredible wife and violinist, Tessa, and their dogs, Leia and Abby.
