Biography
Venessa Fegley-Villalba earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Psychology from University of Tampa in 1997. In 1999, Dr. Fegley earned an MS in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY, and completed an externship at the Federal Bureau of Prisons MCC, New York. From 1999 to August 2004, Dr. Fegley attended the APA Accredited Carlos Albizu University - Miami Campus, where she each a MA in clinical psychology and a Psy.D. in Clinical psychology with a forensic emphasis. Completed APA Intership at the Federal Bureau of Prisons, FDC, Tallahassee in August, 2004. Internship. Professionally, Dr. Fegley has worked in both federal and state correctional facilities where she worked directly with both male and female inmates in the capacity as a Clinical Psychologist. Additional work includes conducting competency and insanity evaluations, including restoration of competency to stand trial; trial consultation; research on juvenile firesetters and bombmakers, and inmate assessment with various psychological assessment tools. Dr. Fegley started working for GCU in 2011, and has worked as an online instructor for forensic psychology programs since 2005. For almost the last 13 years, Dr. Fegley has served our nations veterans for the Department of Veterans Affairs and currently serves as Team Lead Psychologist by providing Suicide Focused Evidence Based Psychotherapies to veterans who have attempted suicide in the last 12 months.
