Finding Tatum’s Purpose: Spring Break

Posted on March 21, 2018  in  [ GCU Experience ]

Spring break is here, and that means it’s time to take a break from studying and homework to have fun with friends and family!

I kicked off my spring break with a little road trip. Two of my friends, Chloe and Nicole, and I went to Jerome for the day. Jerome is a small town in Arizona that was a mining town back in the day. It is known for being a hub for ghostly encounters. My friends and I have lived in Arizona for most of our lives and have never been to Jerome, and with spring break providing us with an opportunity to travel, we decided to check it out.

Before break had begun, I had bought lots of candy from the Lopes Mart with some of my Dining Dollars so we wouldn’t be short on sugary and salty snacks. While I, the chauffeur, was in charge of snacks, Chloe was in charge of water and Nicole was in charge of music. My car is 16 years old so we had to substitute an aux cord with a Bluetooth speaker!

The drive to Jerome was only two hours but the road there was crazy. It was very narrow and it rained a lot but we were still able to have lots of fun. We sang loud, laughed too hard and ate too much, but it was all worth it because it was the perfect start to spring break.

Once we got to Jerome, we walked around the town and put our names down to eat at the Haunted Hamburger, a hotspot in Jerome with a spooky tale that fits the haunted vibe of the town. Supposedly, the restaurant was a boarding house and home to many miners back in the day. During construction on the building, the hammers of those who were working on it mysteriously vanished. Lucky for us, we were able to enjoy a “haunted” burger and experience the atmosphere of the restaurant and the town.

After checking out a few local shops, we headed back to Phoenix because it started to rain harder. We all had so much fun together and I enjoyed every minute of the road trip!
