GCU Nursing Students NCLEX Pass Rate 98.2%
Grand Canyon University nursing students have once again made the news with their spectacular licensing test results. These new scores raised the bar to a 98.2 percent first-time pass rate for QTR 1, 2019.
What is the NCLEX?
Nursing students take The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) after they finish their pre-licensure program. Every nurse is required to take it before they can get their professional license and start working in the field as a registered nurse.
The NCLEX test itself is designed to be adaptive to the student. Each question depends on the answer to the previous question. The test-taker has no idea how long the test will be; it is possible to have as few as 75 questions and as many as 265. The test ends once it is satisfied or deemed to be unreachable.
GCU’s Method for NCLEX Success
This outstanding NCLEX score bumps the university’s pass rate beyond the Arizona’s Board of Nursing state-wide average at 95.16 percent. These scores are no doubt the result of dedicated professors and hardworking students who strive to do what they were born to do.
Dr. Lisa Smith reported that the College of Nursing and Health Care Professions has revised its curriculum as part of an on-going quality improvement process, added immersive simulation experiences and increased the amount of practice students get in the lab. GCU partners with multiple clinical agencies to provide a variety of experiences that correlate with what students learn in the classroom. These experiences include diverse settings like Crossroads, which allow nursing students to work with people from different socioeconomic backgrounds. All of these factors lead to a very high-quality nursing program, which in turn, produce high quality graduates.
The college offers extensive resources throughout the program to prepare students to take the NCLEX exam. Preparation is of the utmost importance and the college puts an emphasis on transforming their students not only into graduates who are confident in taking the test but future nurses who provide safe, high quality client care in all health care settings.
