Beautiful Adventure: A Journey to Philippines, Part 5

A girl looking through a window

A Grand Canyon University student traveled to the Philippines on a global outreach trip in March 2015. Follow her mission trip this week to see how her team, the Filipino people and the Lord captured her heart.

Thursday

At any given point during the day, we can look out to the street where we are staying and this is the view. Kids hang around all day, waiting for a new friend, waiting for swimming.

Waiting.

Today I see how beautiful the concept of waiting is when it’s for something worthwhile. Normally, waiting makes our generation annoyed, impatient and anxious. Our concept of waiting involves food lines, text messages and school to be over.

But these kids have no schedule and no to do list. They simply just want a relationship. In the way that they hang on to the bars peeking in, I want to have the hopeful anticipation of sweet communion with God.

Sometimes it takes a week unplugged in another country to see that there is a friend, adventure and closer relationship with the Lord on the other side of the gate.
