“Why did the Lord bring defeat on us today before the Philistines?” (Samuel 4:3)
Chris Brown comically retold the somber story of the Israelites being defeated in the book of Samuel.
Chris (not the musician) has been the senior and teaching pastor at North Coast Church in San Diego County, Calif., for the past decade. He previously served as the Campus Pastor at Azusa Pacific University, and grew a passion for college students and helping them understanding their existence during these transition years.
“I wonder in this arena how many of you are asking, why?” Chris said. “I wonder how many have just returned from home, and once again you have questions of, why?” (7:30).
Chris colorfully depicted the story of this battle and revealed how commonly our faith with God appears to be like that of the Israelites in this story: only asking God for help when we need it, rather than just following Him.
