Trending Faith: What's the Christian View on Suicide?

In memory of grave tombstone with hashtag trending faith text on top of it

Grand Canyon University Pastor Tim Griffin and Dean of the GCU College of Theology Dr. Jason Hiles tackled a sensitive question on this week’s Trending Faith about Christian thoughts on suicide.

While Dr. Hiles gave a biblical foundation for what Scripture says about taking a life, Pastor Tim spoke from a pastoral point of view about loving our neighbors and caring for our own when they are going through difficult times.

Pastor Tim explained, “When somebody has no hope for tomorrow and starts contemplating taking their own life, I think: Where are God’s people? Are we engaged? Are we doing our part to care for each other and provide a level of hope and affirmation for somebody’s life and wellbeing and for their own desire to live?”
