Showcase and Awards

College of Theology faculty member Joshua Greever, PhD, recently teamed up with David Kotter, PhD, of Colorado Christian University, to write an opinion piece for The Washington Times titled, “Are riches and righteousness necessarily at odds?” The article examines what the Bible says about those who are wealthy and if they are meant to be condemned or commended for their gains.

The Kern Family Foundation awarded GCU a $3.2 million grant, the first major grant for GCU, that will go toward the creation of an accelerated pastoral training program. The goal of the program will be for students to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Divinity within five years, ultimately supplying the Phoenix valley and greater Southwest region with pastoral leaders.

Already with thousands of listens from multiple streaming platforms, Canyon Worship 2019, the latest LP from students at the Center for Worship Arts, was released in the summer of 2019. Every song is written and recorded by GCU students.

Shelly J. Hogan, a faculty member within the College of Theology, has created a nonprofit organization named E5 Life Strategies that aims to develop ministers and leaders to mentor, coach and counsel people in need of spiritual formation and inner healing. Hogan has also been an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for over 25 years.

Gary S. Osmundsen, PhD, has authored multiple peer-reviewed journal articles, one entitled “Sanctification” and another called “Joint Agency with the Triune God.” As well, Osmundsen co-authored a book through Harper Collins Christian Publishing called “An Introduction to Philosophy.”
