Consultative Problem Solving - Graduates of the Master of Science in Instructional Design will be prepared to lead design projects through effective communication, sound decision making, and a strong understanding of systematic instructional design. They will be able to:
- Determine strategic training needs and decisions based on the context of an organization.

- Advocate for a systematic approach to instructional design within an organization.

Analysis and Planning - Graduates of the Master of Science in Instructional Design will use evidence, observation, and theory to plan effective learning interventions. They will be able to:
- Determine learner needs using an empathetic process.
- Select appropriate instructional and learning theories to guide learning interventions.
- Synthesize a variety of evidence to inform instructional design decisions.
- Analyze current and emerging learning technologies for instructional delivery applications.

Design and Development - Graduates of the Master of Science in Instructional Design will design and develop appropriate learning interventions for various contexts. They will be able to:
- Design interventions that demonstrate proper instructional alignment.
- Develop appropriate learning materials for the desired outcomes and performance context.
- Create an eLearning module that incorporates multimedia learning principles.
- Design assessments that encourage skill transfer to authentic situations.

Implement and Measure - Graduates of the Master of Science in Instructional Design will implement and evaluate learning interventions in various contexts. They will be able to:
- Create an implementation plan for an instructional unit.
- Evaluate design decisions throughout the instructional design process.
- Determine the effectiveness of an instructional intervention to improve learner performance in meeting organizational goals.
- Revise instructional products based on evaluation data.
