Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Master of Science in Leadership with an Emphasis in Homeland Security and Emergency Management program will be able to positively influence others to develop their own professional and leadership skills and work together to achieve common goals.

• Practice methods of coaching and guidance that help develop leadership qualities in others.

Leading an Organization -
Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Master of Science in Leadership with an Emphasis in Homeland Security and Emergency Management program will be able to create compelling vision and drive innovative change to encourage organizational growth and improved outcomes for all stakeholders.

• Analyze organizational behavior to determine systemic interdependencies among individuals, teams, and departments.
• Develop strategy for implementing and managing change within an organization.

Homeland Security and Emergency Management -
Graduates of Grand Canyon University’s Master of Science in Leadership with an Emphasis in Homeland Security and Emergency Management program will be able to apply leadership skills in emergency organizations and participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of emergency response plans and practices that account for the complex social, economic, and political factors that impact disaster planning, response, and recovery in a global society.

• Create strategic plans for areas impacted by large scale emergencies or disasters.
• Analyze the human, economic, and environmental issues involved in emergency planning, response, and recovery.
• Analyze political, legislative, and legal issues that impact the field of emergency management.
• Integrate evidence and data into a systematic and evolving approach to emergency management practice.
• Incorporate professional ethics and equitable and just consideration of all stakeholders into emergency management practice.
