The NHLBI DAC Leadership Team plays a critical role in facilitating and implementing responsible data sharing policies/practices in the NHLBI extramural and intramural communities and maintaining human subjects' protections while leveraging research resources. Experienced in data sharing and related issues and working knowledge of NIH’s processes for grant applications and grants/programmatic management.
Senior Human Subjects Protection Scientist - Perform a comprehensive pre-review of research protocols and supporting documents before review by a convened IRB or via expedited review procedure. Participate in the Post-IRB approval lifecycle management of assigned research protocols, including prereview of amendments, continuation reports, reports of unanticipated problems/serious adverse events/serious or continuing noncompliance/ research suspension or termination /protocol deviations, and final study reports.
Support for site visits (monitoring, non-compliance) to include preparation and planning visits, aiding during visits, and preparing written reports. Aid in the development and updating of the IRBs human subject protections policies, procedures, guidelines, and process improvement initiatives. Aid in developing human subject protections education and training programs. Aid in the IRB's internal quality control/assurance program. Support the Human Research Protections Office, as needed, to include conducting DoD-required reviews for USAMRDC-supported research and DoD-conducted research.

Aid in the development and implementation of human subject protection standards, policies, procedures, and systems compared to clinical research and cross-discipline human subject research, research subject protection in addition to institutional and investigator compliance. Serve as the point-of-contact for assigned Commands, supply guidance and oversight. Supply consultation for updating regulations and policies. Conduct site inspections and Assist visits with Commands on a regular basis. Evaluate and assess findings objectively and integrate all activities and results into a final assessment report or summary.
