The Office of Student Engagement

The Office of Student Engagement is home to several groups on campus, including Associated Students of Grand Canyon University (ASGCU), Canyon Activities Board (CAB), student clubs, Commuter Life, GCU Engage, Multicultural Office, Army ROTC, Thunderground and The Riverbed. Our mission is to help you engage in your community, develop as student leaders who invest in the lives of others and build authentic relationships. During your time at GCU, you have the opportunity to discover your purpose, develop your gifts and deploy your service.

Lope Life

Being a Lope means being a member of a dedicated, enthusiastic and kind family of students and faculty while attending GCU and beyond. CAB plans most of the events and activities throughout the year to help you get involved, make new friends and get to know the GCU campus community. We are focused on one thing – we turn students into Lopes for Life!

Thunderground and The Riverbed

Thunderground and The Riverbed are a few of GCU’s entertainment and event spaces. Students and guests are welcome to enjoy the many amenities of these campus venues, including arcade games, billiard tables, lounge areas, ping pong and virtual reality. These spaces are also host to many campus events like concerts, movie nights, trivia and karaoke. Thunderground and The Riverbed are committed to creating a quality experience for all GCU students.

Associated Students of Grand Canyon University (ASGCU)

ASGCU is GCU's student government, representing and serving the student body in pursuit of academic success, personal excellence and spirituality. Through representation and a variety of programs, events, services and outreach opportunities, ASGCU's central focus is to build community and help you feel connected on GCU's campus. Canyon Activities Board (CAB) at Grand Canyon University

Canyon Activities Board (CAB)

CAB fosters campus spirit, school tradition and a sense of belonging by providing programming for our diverse student body. From movie and trivia nights to student market and lip sync competitions, CAB's events are vibrant, varied and for everyone! We recommend you jump in and give everything a try.

Commuter Life

Commuters make up a large portion of our vibrant campus community. As a commuter, you can still enjoy many of the features and benefits of our campus, including student-only events on campus, special commuter events and more.

Commuter Resources

As a commuter, you still have access to the facilities on GCU's campus, including our swimming pools and more. We are also pleased to offer a commuter lounge where you can relax between classes. Amenities include:

  • Free lockers (first-come, first-served)
  • Refrigerator
  • Wi-Fi
  • Study room
  • Free commuter lunches, brunches and giveaways

Life Leaders and Life Groups

Life Leaders hold weekly Bible studies, called Life Groups, and intentionally provide Christian leadership that is focused on building relationships. The Department of Spiritual Life is pleased to host Life Groups especially for commuter students.

Trip Reduction Program

To make commuting less stressful and more convenient, GCU offers a number of commuter-related incentives and subsidies for employees and students who live off campus.1 For more information about commuting, call 855-GCU-LOPE.
