Alumni Spotlight: Catherine Xiong

Catherine Xiong

The Honors College is full of brilliant students, and Catherine Xiong is no exception. Catherine is an international student from Guangzhou, China who recently graduated with a degree in finance and economics. Catherine not only studied in the states for college, she also attended high school in Greely, Colorado. Her favorite part about the Honors College here at GCU was her lovely co-workers. Her favorite memories for her time with the Honors College came from “the leadership retreat, because it’s such a different experience every year with different people!”

While Catherine has been excelling in school, she has not been able to see her family often. Catherine was able to go home to China every other year for holiday. Fortunately, her mom was able to fly in all the way from China to see her graduate! She recalled seeing her mom at the airport for the first time in the United States, saying, “I couldn’t believe it, it was like a dream come true! My mom and I were both crying of happiness.”

As all things Catherine does are worth doing well, she has a five-year plan. Catherine started working fulltime at Naya Energy in June, where she had previously been interning. She plans to build her career and investment portfolio and then continue to build her education in three to four years! Our honors students truly go above and beyond. Catherine has been an outstanding leader in our Honors College, and we look forward to seeing the places she goes.
